AV America, with the support of Global Mass Transit, is organizing a virtual conference on Autonomous Vehicles and Commercial Delivery on March 23, 2022.

Summary

While the jury is probably still out on how quickly we will see self-driving cars being used for personal transportation, there is definitely increasing interest and expectation regarding their use for “commercial delivery”.

The businesses were already looking at these possibilities before Covid, because of factors such as rise of e-commerce, shortage of labor in trucking, and ever-increasing demand for cost reduction and efficiency. Covid has added the need for contactless delivery.

The potential exists for both “last mile” and “middle mile”, in sectors ranging from restaurants to retail, from shipping to warehousing, etc.

The aim of the conference is to discuss the opportunities presented by AVs in the commercial delivery space, understand the benefits and challenges, explore key developments, review case studies, and discuss what comes next.

Key topics to be explored

  • Role of autonomous vehicles in commercial delivery
  • Economics of autonomous delivery
  • Role during COVID-19
  • Legislation
  • Case studies
  • Technology showcase
