Why self-driving cars may not help older drivers as much as some anticipate
Could self-driving cars keep older drivers on the road longer? They might, but it wouldn’t necessarily be safe, according to a new study out of Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. After a certain age, driving becomes even more of a danger to some seniors, who are facing issues with their eyesight and motor skills. Driving at night, or even in general, could result in accidents, injuries or even deaths — not just for themselves, but passengers and strangers.
