Waymo, the Alphabet-owned autonomous driving specialist, is preparing to charge fares for rider-only trips in San Francisco. The company recently received its driverless deployment permit from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which marks the final step before offering a paid fully autonomous ride-hailing service in the city.
