Variable speed limits are aiming to help, but can confuse human drivers and yet are easy-peasy for AI self-driving cars
When you get into your car today and go driving, I’d bet that you pretty much know the speed limits of wherever you are headed.
Assuming that you are driving in a locale that you know well, the odds are that you already have learned over time what the speed limits are. Perhaps you pull out of your driveway and drive initially past a school ground. Next, you get onto a major street that takes you to the freeway. Upon entering the freeway, you proceed for a while and eventually take an exit into a downtown area.
