How self-driving cars see the road

Shoddy road infrastructure in the U.S. is pushing carmakers and their suppliers to incorporate multiple sensors, maps and data into their autonomous vehicles. An estimated 65% of U.S. roads are in poor condition, with the transportation infrastructure system ranked 12th in the World Economic Forum’s 2014-2015 global competitiveness report.
