Designing an electric or autonomous vehicle is like designing a smartphone
I, like many in the tech industry, have likened Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) to smartphones. While on the surface, the comparison may seem to be a stretch, it is actually an extremely relevant one with the major difference being just a matter of scale. And just as a smartphone requires a high-level of integration of the most advanced silicon, sensor, communications, display, and battery technology, so too do EVs and AVs. This requires a transformation of the design of future vehicles from a sum of the parts to a single integrated system.
