Adorable, unthreatening autonomous vehicles deliver meals around Virginia campus
Critics of autonomous vehicles’ safety and reliability have various valid points, but no one’s going to be afraid of these 6-wheeled little robots. And besides, they bear pizza, coffee and donuts. Starting this week, any of the 40,000 students, faculty and staff at George Mason University’s Fairfax, Virginia campus can access a robot food delivery service provided by Starship Technologies and Sodexo, Inc., ordering anything on the menu from Blaze Pizza, Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts for a delivery fee of $1.99.
