The testing effort in the UK will explore the potential of vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) technology, which could use residential cameras to identify objects in traffic. The program, dubbed evolvAD, is intended to identify what is needed in the supply chain for a future in which many vehicles on the road are autonomous. Part of this trial will focus on autonomous vehicle operations in extra-urban settings in the UK, which can be a notable challenge for Level 4 vehicles.
