Using ouster’s lidar, nvidia targets 2022 for commercial launch of self-driving vehicles
NVIDIA has been working with Volvo Trucks to develop a flexible, scalable self-driving system for commercial use. A recent announcement from its partner Ouster indicates that product should be ready in a couple years. Ouster says it’s helping NVIDIA launch a commercial autonomous vehicle in 2022. The San Francisco-based manufacturer makes short and long-range mechanical spinning lidars, and its customers are largely in the robo-taxi and trucking space where aesthetics isn’t a concern.
