Near miss data highlights pitfalls of autonomous cars

Ford uses near miss data to identify common issues at junctions which could pose a risk when autonomous cars are in use. Potential pitfalls for autonomous cars on public roads have been revealed by new data analysis. Last year, analysts from Ford City Insights looked at near miss data – indicated by sharp braking or hazard light usage – from a one-year study of driverless vehicles in London to create a list of ‘hidden’ road safety hotspots in the capital.
