Arnold Schwarzenegger’s contribution to autonomous vehicles
In 1990, Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in a futuristic science fiction movie called Total Recall. The core of the movie was a typical action adventure with some classic Arnold wise-cracks. “Consider THAT a divorce,” said Arnold as he dispatched fake wife Sharon Stone. However, underneath the action adventure were some very interesting futuristic concepts loosely adapted from science fiction writer Philip K. Dick. There was the reimagining of a vacation with an avatar-like virtual experience through a mind implant. “Let Me Suggest That You Take A Vacation From Yourself,” said the ReKall salesman. Quite an interesting concept. Other concepts included the impact of genetics, massive virtual reality in the home, and the concept of an atmosphere generating mega machine. However, the one which seems most appropriate for the current time is the conception of autonomous vehicles as embodied by “Johnny Cab.”
